What’s hot right now? Owls! Yes, owls in all shapes, colors, variations and translated into T’s, laptop bags, pillows, plush, jewelry, dishware and even luggage. Everywhere I’ve look while attending the shows this season, designers are paying respect to the iconic nocturnal bird. Maybe I’ll go back and get on the “owl” wagon and design a Color Zoo version.
What’s New at Allen Ave. Design Studio?
I’m obsessed with “Rag Dolls” as of late and have been slowly collecting all forms of this lovely creation. Rag dolls are as unique as their designer and of its owner. Many are handmade and have been treasured and passed down from grandmothers to mothers and on to daughters. Some designs are simple while others are made with the most beautiful fabrics and embelishments. As a tribute to my own doll given to me by my mother, we are hard at work making our own collection to which we hope will be loved and treasured by a new generation of girls.
